Like Comics??

ZAP! POW! BAM! The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books, 1938–1950

If you like comics you will not want to miss this exhibit. This exhibit will be occurring at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles ( CA of course). It ends Aug 9th, so you still have plenty of time to get there.

It explores the history of icons such as Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, just to name a few. All of the exhibited comics were created by
young Jewish artists as an escape from the political and economical troubles of that time. You will be able to see rare vintage works and there are even interactive stations where you can dress up as super heroes.

"Admission: Included with Museum admission (tickets at the door): $10 General; $7 Seniors and Full-Time Students; $5 Children 2–12; Free to Members and Children under 2; Free to all on Thursdays"

The Give Event

"Irvine Spectrum Center and Active Ride host The Give Event, a benefit concert for Costa Mesa-based Krochet Kids International amd Friends of TOMS, this Saturday, July 18 at 5 p.m. The concerts are free with the purchase of TOMS shoes or Krochet Kids apparel, or a charitable donation of at least $2. (taken from the OC Register) Free concert! If you have no plans today, I suggest you come out to support this cause and have fun while doing so. I have been to some of Active Ride's sponsored events and they are some of the best events I've been to. Also, please donate if you aren't going to buy any merchandise, I mean it's a great cause (even $2 is good). Give, Give, and Give.

This necklace is actually one of my favorite pieces from the collection. I think it defines what the Poppy Collection is about.

Coach's Poppy Party

Poppy is the new handbag line of Coach, displaying vibrant, edgy, and fun bags directed at the younger generations. To celebrate this fun new line, Coach is sponsoring with Just Jared and The Fashion Spot to host in-store events to kick off the summer. There have been events in New Jersey (Alexis Bledel attended), Chicago, and California so far. In each of the Poppy parties, refreshments (Poppy candy bars, sparkling juices, pomme frites, sliders, and mini-cupcakes yumm) were provided along with NYC DJs The Misshapes creating their own playlist. A "Poppy-razzi" photobooth let guests snap pictures which was later posted on Coach's Facebook. 3 guests from each party won themselves $1000 giftcards, but everyone who attended recieved free complimentary Coach gifts. I actually missed the one in LA (Costa Mesa) which is really near to me. Disappointed about missing the event, I decided to blog about it instead. Hopefully next time I hear of a big event such as this I'll try to let you guys know AHEAD of time.

P.S. forgot to mention Raseana's going to post her faves from the new Poppy collection.
